This video is part three of my Guyana trip. Guyana is in the north-eastern portion of South America, just east of Venezuela. A day after Farah and I arrived in the capital city of Georgetown, we took a small airplane trip over the tropical rainforest and landed on the edge of the savannah where we stayed several days in an eco friendly resort. In this video, we took a jeep ride into the tropical rain forest to visit the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway. The Canopy Walkway is a series of suspension bridges and decks of up to 30 metres in height and 154 metres in length. The canopy allows visitors to experience the rain forest canopy at eye level. The video also shows a small hike we did into the outer edge of the forest, a short walk from the lodge that we stayed at. Video Rating: 5 / 5

The intension was to do a high altitude hop and pop from 13000 feet to work on some canopy flocking (relative work without contact). During the opening process, or perhaps due to a packing error, one of the lines of the left front riser ended up out of place creating an unusual malfunction. The canopy was unable to inflate fully on the left side, and a control check revealed that it was not possible to land the parachute safely. In order to prevent the canopy from drifting to far away form the drop zone by the upper winds, I held onto it until 4000 feet AGL, after which I cut it away and deployed the reserve. A hook knife may have remedied the situation, however my personal preference was to land under my reserve. Video Rating: 4 / 5
Desde hace unos meses hay una nueva atracción activa en Caracas, se trata de un “canopy” o “Tree climbing”, en castellano “arborismo” o “escalada en árboles”. Es un nuevo deporte de aventura en contacto directo con la naturaleza, ya que se trata de ir por las copas de los árboles con modernos sistemas de escalada y contemplar paisajes, en el caso de Caracas un estupendo bosque húmedo desde otra perspectiva, la perspectiva que te da verlo desde arriba, desde dentro del bosque, para lo cual se instalan plataformas en los árboles en las que se puede descansar, tomar fotos, y contemplar la naturaleza, cambiándote de una a otra por diversos métodos, tirolinas, escaleras colgantes, puentes de cuerda, etc… En Caracas está instalado en el Ávila, claro. Concretamente en el PGP Los Venados en la carreterita que sube a Galipán. No tiene perdida. Y aprovechando que todo está nuevecito nos fuimos a disfrutarlo con Anita y su amiguita “Chichi” (foto 1). Si pensáis que les puede dar algún miedo o problema, pues nada de eso, nada más se pusieron su arnés y su equipo de escalada se encaramaron a la primera torre (foto 2), y de allí ya no había quien las parara ni quien las siguiera por los diferentes puentes colgantes (fotos 3,4,5 y 6). Los papás más mayores y más tranquilos fuimos disfrutando del paisaje más lentamente, del vacío, de la vista de Caracas abajo (foto 7), para terminar en la gran tirolina ciega final.
